What Do Smaller Firm Auckland Lawyers Earn?

What are partners and salaried staff earning in smaller New Zealand law practices?
The recent Moore Markhams survey of small- to medium-sized Auckland law firms provides
interesting information on what qualified staff are earning.
The survey, available in full from Moore Markhams, showed that of the top five firms
surveyed the pay to senior solicitors with five or more years' experience was $131,000
Of the least profitable five firms, the pay was $119,000.
Average Pay Rates
The pay range for non-equity partners for 2019 was $150,000 - $280,000
Senior lawyers (5 Years PQE) - $90,000 - $208,000
Intermediate lawyers (2-3 years PQE) - $47,000 - $135,000)
Graduate lawyers - $45,000 - $75,000
The survey showed that average salaries have increased overall since 2017 although
there was a slight decrease in pay for non-equity partners, senior solicitors and
intermediate roles.
