Does It Really Matter Which Law School You Went To?
Well, the answer is actually 'Yes', it would appear.
A recent American law publication survey of partners earnings showed that over half (actually, 53 per cent to be precise) of partners who earned over $500,000 were from the top 25 law schools in the US.
By contrast, under 40 per cent that hit that half million dollar threshold attended law schools with rankings of 26 or higher.
The survey, from Law360, did not necessarily indicate that partners were paid according to the law school that they attended, but the graduates from top law schools are more likely to receive the opportunities to work with profitable law firms.
The law school you choose can set you apart from other grads and the fact is - as one law career site noted - will determine what job you might happen.
Lawyers, it appears, are 'a snobby bunch' and law school choice is a key factor in future employment and hence prospects and earnings.
Attending a “prestigious” law school can open some doors that would otherwise remain closed to you.
However, there are ample cases of successful lawyers who did not attend a top-ranked law school
Being a good lawyer is a great deal more than just choosing the 'correct' law school.
